- I want to start a business on Namibia. What legal form entities are available to me?
- Business may be conducted in the form of a private or public company, close corporations or trusts. Each has different advantages or disadvantages.
- I am a non-resident in Namibia. May I still be a shareholder or director in my company?
- Yes. There are however withholding tax, and Bank of Namibia requirements implications. Contact a BDO partner to advise you further.
- Is it difficult to re-patriate funds to a non-resident shareholder?
- Dividends are freely transferable, provided that Bank of Namibia requirements regarding investments in the company have been met. Interest, Management Fees and other payments are also freely transferable upon submitting proof of the expenses.
- The Ministry of Mines in Namibia requires a resident person to be the agent for my business. Can you assist?
- YES, our company secretarial department can act as the agent on your behalf.
- I have no bank account in Namibia. How will I make payments to local authorities during the start up phase of my business?
- You can make use of BDO’s client disbursement account, which is operated in the manner of a trust account. Funds can be transferred to this account, which is managed by BDO, and we will make the necessary payments needed on your instruction, authorization and approval.
